Untold Story

Big Magic

 

A warm, wild wind blew around them not stirring the large gum trees buried in the banks. It circled them, dancing at their feet, wrapping around them, pushing them forward, pushing them to the edge of the strong boulders that firmly sat beneath their tired feet. For a moment she wanted to retreat to the safety of the kingdom below but she took a deep breath, smelling the familiar scents of the bush, the smell of home. She felt the warmth of the hot harsh summer sun on her olive skin and as the wind blew and sun beat down on them, the Queen straightened her battered crown and her little Prince clung to his strong Mumma as they jumped. They propelled off the ledge into the wide-open expanse, feeling the spray from the powerful water rushing over the rocks beside them. They moved through the thick air with grace, like they had butterfly wings; inspiration and fear carrying them off the edge of the large rock face into the life-giving water of the big magic.
